Hatched.
Cam hatched the same year everyone agreed the future would have flying cars. He took it personally. He has been looking up ever since.
Egg, slightly green. Leaf, very green. Already matching.

the leaf years
Blended in. Hated it.
Chameleons are supposed to disappear. Cam disappeared into bark, sand, a diner menu and once, a tax form. It worked. Nobody saw him. That was the problem.
He wanted to be the one thing you notice. Hold that thought.

a tuesday
Found the saucer.
Behind a diner. Two seats, one working. He waited a week in case someone came back. Nobody did. He adjusted the mirrors, which took most of a second week.
The dome fits exactly one chameleon and a lot of opinions.

Pilot, first class.
Failed the written test twice: couldn't hold the pencil. Passed the flight test on the first try. The examiner's only note was one word.
Rank: pilot, first class. It's also the only class.

the decision
Picked green. Stuck with it.
A chameleon can be any color. Cam looked at all of them, properly, for about a year. Then he picked one and never changed it. Being the only color on the page turned out to be better than being every color.
This is also how we build websites: one job, done well. He'd like credit for that.

Joined GoGoSites.
He landed on our roof during a meeting about brand colors. The meeting ended. He's been in the dome for every launch since, counting the steps and judging the fonts.
Attendance: perfect. Punctuality: it's a saucer.
